May 2025 was a powerful month of action, empathy, and advocacy for Flourish Community Solutions. Guided by our values of community, compassion, and justice, our teams across Queensland stepped into the heart of their communities to support vulnerable individuals, promote safety, and raise awareness around critical social issues.
Homelessness Connect Expo – Rockhampton
On May 22, our Rockhampton team proudly participated in the Homelessness Connect Expo, hosted by Rockhampton Regional Council. The event, themed “Hands of Support”, was a moving display of unity, compassion, and community action. Held at the Robert Schwarten Pavilion, this gathering brought together service providers, volunteers, and community members to offer practical assistance and connection to those experiencing homelessness and hardship.
Flourish team members engaged with attendees by offering support information, sharing resources, and simply being present to listen and connect. The event was a poignant reminder of the ongoing need to advocate for housing, mental health support, and wrap-around services, all of which are embedded in our practice at Flourish.
“We don’t just work in the community – we walk beside it.”
Domestic and Family Violence Awareness Walk – Rockhampton
In honour of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, our Rockhampton team also joined the Women’s Health Centre Rockhampton and broader community on May 29 for a powerful walk to raise awareness and stand against domestic and family violence. Clad in purple and armed with signs of solidarity, the walk highlighted the vital message that violence has no place in our homes or communities.
Our presence at the walk demonstrated our ongoing commitment to trauma-informed, safety-focused practice and reinforced our role in creating systems that respond meaningfully and compassionately to those affected by domestic and family violence.
“Every step we take is a voice raised against violence.”
Moreton Says No to Violence Walk – Brisbane
On May 30, our Brisbane team laced up their walking shoes to participate in the Moreton Says No to Violence march. Held annually in the Moreton Bay Region, this initiative calls for a united stand against domestic and family violence and encourages active community involvement in the prevention of abuse.
Representing Flourish, our team walked alongside service providers, schools, law enforcement, and community members, showing that prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Events like these remind us that collective voices are powerful tools in shifting the cultural norms that enable violence.
Reflecting on May: A Month of Meaningful Action
Across every event, our teams brought the heart and soul of Flourish Community Solutions to life. Whether it was offering support to people experiencing homelessness or standing shoulder to shoulder in protest of violence, May 2025 served as a vibrant reflection of our mission to empower communities and champion safety, dignity, and hope.
We thank our staff for their dedication and presence in these events, and we honour the community members who shared their stories, strength, and space with us.
Together, we walk. Together, we listen. Together, we Flourish.
